Join us on Sunday, July 5, 2026, for the 46th Annual Narbona Pass Classic. Escape to the cool high pines and clean mountain air for a challenging race through difficult forested terrain and a relaxing atmosphere. Just a few reasons to spend your Fourth of July weekend at Narbona Pass in the Chuska Mountains. The mid-day temperature averages 70 degrees in the 9,000 feet elevation, providing excellent running conditions.

History of Narbona
Pass Classic

The Narbona Pass Classic race started as Washington Pass Classic, when the Navajo Nation was successful in the name change, the race name changed as well. The Carl family organized the first race in 1979 as a 4-mile run over unimproved horse trails that had been used for centuries.

Where can I register?

Click on the “Register” button in the navigation tab to register online.

Event Capacity.

400 for 10k and 400 for 5k.  Kid’s run (under 8) no limit, but only the first 60 that sign up get a shirt.

Is there race day registration?

We do not offer race day registration.

Can I get a refund?

Sorry, we do not provide refunds.

Bathroom Facilities:

Port-a-potties are located near finish. Please allow plenty of time prior to the race start times to use the restroom.

Can I defer my entry to next year if I am unable to run this year?

No, participants cannot defer their entries to the next year if they are unable to run.

Are dogs allowed?

No.  For the safety of your dog and other participants safety, no dogs are allowed on the course.

Race (Bib) Number Requirements:

Each participant will receive a Race (Bib) number that must be worn on race day. DO NOT alter your race number in any way. Your bib number must be visible and worn on the front outside of all clothing during the entire race so that it may be clearly seen. Bib numbers are non-transferable and MUST be worn by the runner to whom it is assigned.

Medical Support:

Medical staff members will be ready to assist you at any time. Radio communications personnel will be positioned throughout the course. The event officials have the right to withdraw any runner from the race that appears in distress or at risk. If you have a health or medical problem at the Finish Line, please notify event officials or volunteers. Please cooperate if you are asked to go for a checkup. If you feel that you need help at any point, please ask for it! If you are unable to finish the race for any reason, please notify a race official of your bib number so that the medical personnel are aware.

Can I run with iPod/headphones?

Yes.

Can I run with my GPS device?

Yes, participants may wear their GPS watches. However, these items do not count as “second timing devices” and will not be recognized by the event as official times or distances.

Are baby joggers and strollers allowed?

No.  For your and other participants’ safety, baby joggers and strollers are not allowed.

I am injured and/or cannot run the event (family commitment, work obligation, etc.). Can I get a refund? Transfer my entry to someone else?

No refunds. Registration transfers are allowed and can be completed through your confirmation email and your participant dashboard on the Race Entry registration website. Registration transfers will be subject to the current pricing, and we will not offer refunds when transferring to a less expensive race.

Camping.

Although Narbona Pass picnic grounds is a day camp.  Overnight camping will be allowed.  Spaces are limited, and serve as first come, first serve.
